Hello Keatsway Families!

Wow – it’s December already!  It’s hard to believe that we have been in school for over 3 months.  The last day of school before the Winter Break is Friday December 22nd.  We will return to school on Monday January 8th.  Whatever way you choose to spend your break, I wish each and every one of our families a wonderful and safe time of year.  Enjoy your break spending time with your families and loved ones.  We look forward to seeing you in the New Year – 2018!!  In the new year, we look forward to many exciting events together, the Move-A-thon, Science Fair, a Musical and so much more!  Thank you for being a part of the Keatsway family!  A big thank you goes out to our School Council!  They are working hard EVERYDAY with Nutrition for Learning, pizza days and all their efforts fundraising for our playground – THANK YOU!

Reminders

Parents, please remember to NOT park in the handicapped spot when picking up or dropping off your child.  Bylaw has informed us that even if you are sitting in your car in a handicapped parking spot you will get a ticket of $300.  Thank you to all of the parents who are walking or parking on the street.  Just a reminder that our driveway is closed ten minutes before and after bell times.  We truly thank you for your support in keeping our students safe!

School Council Update

The GAGA Ball Pit is here!

As a reward for hitting our Fall Fundraising goal of $10,000 and after much anticipation, our GAGA ball pit was built mid-November. The pit itself cost just over $1400 to build and is already being enjoyed by the students. The remainder of our Fall fundraising will cover this year’s council initiatives (offsetting field trips, home reading, grade 6 activities, etc). Due to the huge success of this fundraising campaign, all money raised from November on, will go towards the playground fund.

A New Playground at Keatsway!

We are continuing to work towards our goal of building a new playground this spring. We are almost halfway to our BIG fundraising goal of $75,000 and making our dream a reality. Take a look at our Fundraising Thermometer, located outside of the office, and stay tuned for ways you can help us reach our goal. Due to the generosity of an anonymous donor, funds raised this school year will be matched up to $25,000. That means we can realistically meet our target and build this spring! Every little bit helps and if we all work together, we can do this! Thank you for your continued support!

Pizza Mondays

Every Monday is Pizza Monday at Keatsway. If you would like your child to have pizza for lunch on Mondays, simply send $2/slice with them to school on Monday morning. Grades 1-6 will have the opportunity to purchase slices at first break. All funds raised from pizza lunches will go to the playground and will be matched by our anonymous donor.

Give the Gift of Play

Looking for a special gift for your child’s teacher? Please consider giving the “Gift of Play”! Information went home regarding this unique opportunity to make a donation to Keatsway’s Playground in honour of someone else and receive a beautiful card to give to that person as an acknowledgment of the donation. Additional donation forms are available on the school’s website or in the office. Teachers & Staff have generously suggested that in lieu of traditional holiday gifts this year, donations to the playground fund would be greatly appreciated. All donations will be matched by our awesome donor!

Winter Marketplace

Join us on Tuesday December 5th for an evening of shopping at Keatsway. Local vendors and artisans will gather in Keatsway’s gym from 5-8 pm to offer one of a kind gifts, handmade items, clothing, home decor and more. The evening will include a door prize draw as well as, a bake sale run by Free the Children (funds will go towards the playground and snack program). Don’t miss this fun chance to complete your holiday shopping!

Boston Pizza

Take a break from cooking dinner and let Boston Pizza do the work for you on Wednesday December 13th. Simply order dinner with Boston Pizza and 10% of all sales will be donated to Keatsway’s playground. Take out, delivery and dine in are eligible. Our profit from the night will be matched by our generous donor!

Happy Holidays
