Hello Keatsway Families!
Principal’s Message
A great big Thank you goes out to our Keatsway families that came out on Thursday evening for our 40th Anniversary and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. It was a great turnout and so nice to see our children having such a wonderful time!
It’s hard to believe that we are already in June. It has been a fantastic year up to this point. We still have much learning and many activities to do. I wish all of our families a wonderful, safe and healthy summer. See you in September!!
School Council Update
Playground Update:
A gigantic thank you to everyone who made our new playground possible! We are filled with gratitude and words can not express how much we appreciate all the support we’ve received in this huge endeavour.
The playground is ready to be played on and has already been enjoyed by the students (with great reviews). We are still awaiting our landscaping to be completed and our two new benches to be installed. In the meantime, both structures have passed inspection. The main play structure (with the slides) has be approved for ages 18 months-12 years and the challenge circuit has been approved for ages 5-12 years.
Once again, thank you so very much for all the support and encouragement on this project!
Staff Appreciation Lunch:
On Thursday June 7th, School Council will be hosting a lunch for all Keatsway staff to thank them for all their hard work this school year. If you are interested in making a dish for this lunch, please email keatswayschoolcouncil@gmail.com
Volunteer Appreciation Social:
On Tuesday June 12th, we will be having a Volunteer Appreciation Social. Please come out and celebrate with us and allow us to “Thank You” for all your hard work and volunteerism.
Grade Six Celebration:
Each June, a celebration is held in the gym for our grade 6 students. School Council is honoured to share in this milestone day by serving cake and refreshments to the students and families. We wish them all well as they embark on this next stage of their lives and each grade 6 student will receive a small gift from School Council to take with them on this next journey.
School Council:
Do you enjoy hearing firsthand what is happening in the school? Are you interested in volunteering at the school? Would you enjoy helping to plan events or fundraisers? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then come out to our September School Council meeting! Commitment levels vary…whether you prefer being a casual observer, hands-on volunteer or taking on a leadership role…all are welcome and all are needed! For more information about School Council, please see the attached document.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to this year’s School Council and especially to all “graduating” Council members. Your dedication to making Keatsway a better place for our children and for volunteering so much of your time, is greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
Track Meeting
All junior students will be going to the University Stadium for the Track and Field Meet on Wednesday, June 13th for the day.

The Beechwood Produce Stand Opens June 13th
Be sure to mark your calendar for a wonderful visit each week to our very own, local, Beechwood Produce Stand, which is launching it’s 11th season on Wednesday June 13th. Every Wednesday afternoon from strawberry season in June to squash and pumpkin season in September, they will be selling the most delicious, locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey, eggs and sourdough bread (baked right in our own neighbourhood).
The stand is located at 293 Shakespeare Dr. just by the Beechwood Park Recreation Centre. You can’t miss it! It is within easy walking distance for most of you. If you would like to recieve their weekly “Produce Stand Update” that lets you know what produce they will have that week, be sure to send an email to Steve Singer (Farmer Steve) at singercutt@golden.net.
Over the past 10 years the Beechwood Stand has provided $5000 each to both Keatsway and Centennial schools that we have put to good use funding special nutrition and school programs. so be sure to fill your summer produce needs with the best our local farmers can provide and help your school at the same time.
