Season’s Greetings!

We have had a variety of exciting events taking place at Keatsway.

We had a wonderful Remembrance Day Assembly. Mr. Duff’s class sang a lovely French song called, So Far From Home.  The students in Mlle Pointon’s class recited the famous poem, In Flanders Field, and Mrs. Zamin’s class beautifully sang, Last Night I had the Strangest Dream. Our honoured guest, Mr. Ed Mulroney, a veteran from 1957-1964, Life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Public Relations representative for the KW Poppie Fund and honourable Service Officer for the Royal Canadian Legion attended our service and did the laying of the wreath.  I would like to acknowledge the hard work of the students in the Remembrance Day committee under the direction of Mr. Ed Langevin (a retired teacher).  Many thanks to all the staff and students who made this such a memorable assembly. I was so proud of the students and their excellent respectful behaviour!

Both the boys and girls volleyball teams had a fun and successful season. Thank you Mr. Craig, Ms. Lepold, Mr. Mac, and Mr. Deiter for coaching the Boys’ team and Mlle Schlumberger, Mrs. Zamin, Mme Bentz and Mlle Lefebvre for coaching the Girls’ team! Thank you to the dedicated students who came out to all the practices and played in the awesome games against other schools.

WE DAY was a huge success with 13 students, Mrs. Tracy, Ms. Jackson and Miss Spence attending the event at the Kitchener Auditorium. Thank you to the students who attended WE DAY and the other students in “Free The Children” for helping organize our two seasonal giving initiatives. Our giving community has collected more than 15 boxes of food items to the Food Bank during the December Food Drive. Tomorrow is the last day to bring in items. And we collected over 75 books for Books For Kids! Thank you for your donations.

Cookie Day is today! In celebration of the season, all students at Keatsway will receive a snowman cookie to enjoy! Thank you to School Council for organizing this special treat! Thank you parents for your kind donations!

Excitement is in the air as we prepare for the holidays. A few classes (Hansen, Lepold, Craig, Schlumberger, Bentz, Shortt, Zamin, Nordby) and staff have indicated that they will be performing at our seasonal concert on Friday from 12-1:30. You are welcome to join us for some fun!

Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season with family and friends!
