October 13, 2015

Dear Students and Families,

Keatsway Public School is pleased to hold its annual Terry Fox School Run on Friday October 16, 2015. Terry Fox, following a diagnosis of osteogenic sarcoma (bone cancer) that led to the amputation of his right leg, ran 5,373 kilometres in 143 days to raise awareness and money for cancer research. He called his journey the Marathon of Hope.

This year we are welcoming Ms Jennifer Tremaine, a Terry Fox School Ambassador, to talk about Terry Fox’s legacy and advancements made in cancer research in the past 35 years.

We invite parents to attend the Terry Fox assembly on Friday at 12:10 and at approximately 12:45 pm, to participate by walking, jogging or cheering for your children as they complete their laps around the school. Please note that teachers may choose to have their classes run at an alternate time on Friday, to best fit into their planned school day.

We encourage students to bring one or two dollars to school on Friday, to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation. Also, there is an online donation page to which families can donate directly, should you wish, at: https://goo.gl/2hbzrb or terryfox.org

We appreciate the involvement of the Keatsway School Council and the parent community in the organization of this Terry Fox School Run. If you would like to help out at this event, please contact Principal Mrs. Briscoe at (519) 886-1650 or parent volunteer, Patricia Shaw at: keatswayschoolcouncil@gmail.com
