Dear Keatsway Families:

We are reaching out to let you know we are thinking of all of you during this challenging time.  We hope that you are all safe and looking after one another. COVID-19 has greatly impacted our school community, and the way that we typically come together at school.  We want you all to know that the staff is united in saying how much we miss our school community and our coming together on a daily basis.

At the fore-front of all decisions being made, is the well-being of each and every student and family.  Our school, the WRDSB, and the Ministry of Education have been working hard to put together a learning plan moving forward in these unprecedented times.  Information is being shared as is available and staff are working hard preparing for next steps.

All communication from the WRDSB is done through our school website, so please ensure you are set up to receive email notifications.  If you go onto our website you will see the “stay connected – get news from this website” at the very bottom of the page. Simply add your email and you will receive an email every time a message gets posted.

We know that in the news today it stated that “distant learning” will begin on Monday.  Please be assured there is much planning and preparation being done, and we are taking every measure to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all of our students.

Our goals for next week include:

  • Educators beginning to engage in distance learning for students by connecting with students and families to ensure they have what they need to begin distance learning
      • Staff will help families understand how they will communicate and discuss what things are going to look like moving forward
      • Staff will remind families who wish to access the WRDSB eLibrary (Library Learning Commons) that they will require student login and password information to do this
  • Continuing to identify barriers to student and family engagement and developing alternate approaches to overcome these barriers

We encourage you to explore WRDSB@Home.

To ensure the safety of everyone and to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, please note that our school yard, playground and property are closed.

In the meantime, please know that we are all thinking of you and although we are not physically connected at this time, we continue to look for new ways to reach out and support all of our students and families.

Sincerely,
